Gut microbiota aids in lowering blood lipids!

2025-08-06

Patent: A Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis F1-7 composition for improving inflammation in atherosclerosis

F1-7 can optimize cholesterol structure

Model Group (AS Group), F1-7 Intervention Group (F1-7 Group), Krill Oil Intervention Group (KO Group), F1-7 + Krill Oil Combination Intervention Group (KF Group)

  • The KF group significantly increased the high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels in the serum of atherosclerotic

  • F1-7 and KF groups reduced serum LDL levels.

a.HDL (High-density lipoprotein), known as "good cholesterol" - primarily responsible for transporting cholesterol from the body to various organs, thereby enhancing the body's immunity and preventing the occurrence of hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis;

b. LDL (Low-density lipoprotein), known as "bad cholesterol" - carries cholesterol into peripheral tissue cells. When LDL is excessive, the cholesterol it carries accumulates on the arterial walls, which can easily lead to arteriosclerosis over time.

F17 can significantly reduce cholesterol and triglycerides

  • Dyslipidemia in the serum of atherosclerosis model mice.

  • TC and TG represent the levels of serum lipids.

In the AS group, TC (total serum cholesterol) content increased to 11.82±0.95mmol/L;
F1-7 and KO groups reduced TC by 30%;
The KF group reduced TC by 40%.
F1-7 and KF groups effectively improved serum TG (triglyceride) content

HE schematic diagram of mouse aortic cross-sections:
AS group: Extensive damage and shedding of vascular endothelial cells, lipid deposition, vacuolation in smooth muscle cell cytoplasm, pale staining, disordered arrangement of smooth muscle cells, and significantly visible large plaque-like substances on the inner wall of blood vessels.

KO group: A small amount of plaque attached to the inner wall, mild damage to the mouse vascular intima, relatively neat arrangement of smooth muscle cells, proliferation, increased nuclear density, and vacuolation in some smooth muscle cells;

KF group: Basically no plaque deposition, smooth intima, intact endothelial cells, small subintimal space, relatively neat arrangement of smooth muscle cells, and red staining of cytoplasm.

F3-2 and the positive drug orlistat were intervened separately, both of which can reduce the content of triglycerides in mouse serum,which decreased by 42.14% and 41.41% (p<0.05) respectively compared with the high-fat group.

In terms of lowering cholesterol, F3-2 performed better than the positive drug orlistat.

F3-2 intervention can significantly reduce the weight gain of mouse liver (p<0.05), and the intervention effect was not significantly different from that of the positive drug orlistat group (p>0.05).
